Our Classroom Website

Welcome!

Spring tends to be where many kids need to work extra hard in school to stay focused and be on their best behavior. Please remind your kindergartner, that it is important to do their best each day.  Thank you for your continued support at home.

By now I'm sure you've seen or heard of Fidget Spinners, the new educational toy meant to help students with ADHD by giving them a physical outlet while they work. This toy was designed with the intention of helping students focus by giving them physical stimulation to keep from fidgeting.

Recently, however, Fidget Spinners have become popular outside of their academic purpose. While this is fine outside of school, however they are not allowed in the kindergarten classrooms, the lunch room or on the playground. I am asking that all Fidget Spinners be left at home from now on.

These toys serve a wonderful purpose when they are used in the correct context, but they are highly distracting when used otherwise. I can tell you with confidence that our students have enough distractions already as we near mid-May. J

Just a reminder at dismissal...Kindergarten doors open at 3:00 each day & the bell rings at 3:10.

May 15-19 Room 408 Happenings....

Religion:   You are always welcome to join us at mass sitting in the adult section behind the assigned grade level seating. We continue working on the sign of the cross, Hail Mary, Our Father, and Glory Be. Please continue to practice at home.   We have completed our We Believe Religion book.  We now have been learning about a new saint each day and reading stories from the Bible.  This past week, we have been reading and learning about saints and stories from the Old Testament, We have also started practicing for our Kindergarten mass on June 2nd.  We've gone over to the church a few times this week and will continue to do so.  If your child has a reading, please continue to practie nightly.

Language Arts:  This week, we continue to focus short and long vowel sounds.   We are continuing to write sentences knowing that it always starts with an upper case letter and end with a period.  This would be something that could be practiced at home as well.  In case you want to work with your child on identifying sight words, here are the ones we have learned: and, a, are, but, be, come, came, from, for, how, I, is, into, like, me, my, many, now, of, on, see, so, the, to this, that, we, will, what, where, who, with, you, your, go,for, here, they, soon, up, make, play, them, give, say, new, said, good, was, then, ate, could, she, all, over, her, when, some, he, no, away, must, by, there, down, do, went, only, little, just, have, help, one, every, ask, walk, look, out, very, their, saw, put, off, take, our, day, too, show.  Sight Words should  be practiced nightly.
